Altersheim Mon Soleil (Bern)

The small, lovingly run home is located in a quiet, sunny location with a large garden and old trees. It is manageable and radiates a family atmosphere. It can be reached from the city center in a few minutes by bus line 11 and 12. In the immediate vicinity are post office, bank, neighborhood stores and restaurants.
The entire building is designed to meet the needs of the residents.

History

A work of open-minded Bernese women.

In 1910, a few open-minded Bernese women and their domestic workers founded the Bernese Domestic Workers Association, which was very active for decades.

The association pursued the goal of creating a home of their own for their elderly colleagues, where they could spend their twilight years.

This they succeeded in doing. In 1926, the opportunity arose to rent an old Bernerhaus on Effingerstrasse.

In 1930, the association was offered the house at Zähringerstrasse 3 for purchase, where today's Mon Soleil retirement home is located.

Due to a lack of new members, the association was dissolved and transferred to the "Stiftung Altersheim Mon Soleil, Bern".
