Alterszentrum Neumarkt (Winterthur)

The Neumarkt Center for the Elderly stands on ground steeped in history. Its building traces the social history of the city of Winterthur. Over the centuries it has been a hospital, poorhouse, orphanage, asylum for foreigners, prison and old people's home all in one or gradually. Since 1814, the classic Pfrundhaus and today's center for the elderly has dominated the east side of the square. In 2002, after many years of planning and construction, it was reopened with a modern addition. People live here who are dependent on care and nursing, but do not want to miss the vibrant life in the old town.
