Wohnpflegeheime Schwamendingen - WOHNSCH - Häuptli, Kull und Schörli (Zürich)

The private non-profit association Wohnpflegeheime Schwamendingen WohnSch was founded in 1987 with the aim of creating places to live for people in need of care and nursing in the neighborhood. Initiators and active pioneers were various interest groups from the health and church community of the Schwamendingen neighborhood.

Today, the association runs three smaller residential homes. The centrally located houses make it possible to live in the middle of the neighborhood.
Each of the homes is designed for elderly people who need care and nursing either because of their age-related ailments Häuptli, a mental impairment Kull or a dementia-related illness Schörli.

Each home has a competent team that meets the needs of the residents.

**Hauptli residential care home The Häuptli residential care home is located in the center of Schwamendingen, in a building converted for this purpose by the of the building cooperative Glattal. With its 18 single rooms, the various communal rooms and the large garden and the large garden seating area, it offers a good infrastructure and a life in the middle of the neighborhood.

All rooms have a shower/WC/basin and some have a balcony and are equipped with a TV connection, telephone and emergency call system. The rooms are unfurnished except for the nursing beds, so that they can be furnished with personal belongings.

The cook serves daily a fine menu which is prepared in the own Häuptli kitchen.
Due to the close contact to the residents, she can easily respond to wishes.

At Häuptli, elderly people can enjoy their accustomed independence and privacy in a small community and still receive the support and care they need.

Residential home for the demented Schörli The friendly and bright residential house Schörli was opened by the association WohnSch at the beginning of 2005. The former rectory is located in a quiet residential neighborhood in Schwamendingen and was redesigned according to the criteria of dementia-friendly construction.

It offers space in single and double rooms for 12 people with dementia.
The rooms are unfurnished except for the nursing beds. The residents' own furniture and objects create a sense of familiarity and help them to feel at home. and help the residents to settle into the residential community. The large, flower-filled garden with its paths and seating invites you to take a walk and relax.

Residential home, assisted individual living, Kull residential community The Kull offers a total of 50 places with its three different forms of living. Admission is given to people from approx. 45 years of age, who require long-term care and nursing due to a mental impairment.
The infrastructure of the residential home can be used by all types of residents. All forms of living are located directly at Schwamendingerplatz and enable the best possible participation in public life. In the Kull, people with mental impairments find a living space that corresponds to their resources and needs.
The form of living is chosen according to their wishes and resources. The small living units, the appreciative attitude towards the individual, the competent care in the system of caregivers and the individually adapted daily structure are designed to give the resident a sense of security and safety.

Common activities and events are available to all residents living at Kull. These include exercise therapy, activation therapy, festivals, joint vacations, etc. Whoever feels like it can also take on a task in the Kull household. The kitchen team offers partial or full board and personally serves the varied menus in the common dining room. There is a free choice of doctor for medical and psychiatric matters. If necessary, the home physician Dr. med. H. Bumbacher and the home psychiatrist, Dr. med. E.Gut (Psychiatry Center Hard) are available.

The homes are centrally managed and run by the management. The office is located in the residential home Kull.
